IMPLEMENTATION OF FOOT MASSAGE AND WARM WATER SOAK WITH KENCUR IN THIRD TRIMESTER PREGNANT WOMEN WITH LEG EDEMA

Background: In pregnant women at 28-38 weeks of pregnancy, 80% are known to experience leg swelling (edema). Edema is caused by excessive fluid accumulation which is influenced by the hormone estrogen during pregnancy. In its management, there are non-pharmacological therapies that have proven to have an effect on reducing edema in pregnant women, namely foot massage therapy and warm water soak with galangal. So the author is interested in implementing the combination because it does not have any side effects.
Goal: This case report aims to determine the effect of giving foot massage and warm water soak with Kaempferia Galangal in reducing the degree of edema in third trimester pregnant women with leg edema.
Results: The results of the case report showed a decrease in the degree of edema experienced by third trimester pregnant women. The results of the decrease in the degree of physiological edema in this therapy are due to the mechanism resulting from the combination therapy used.
Conclusion: The intervention of giving foot massage and warm water soak with galangal proved successful in reducing the degree of edema in third trimester pregnant women with leg edema.
